Tom van den Boomen graduated from the Academy of Art in Eindhoven in 1985. His early career was marked by years of exhibitions across the Netherlands, where his paintings, sculptures and conceptual installations established him as a distinctive autonomous artist.

Alongside his work as a visual artist, Tom built a career as a video and television director, sharpening his eye for storytelling, composition and atmosphere. That cinematic sensibility still lives in his paintings today.

In 2025, his work was selected for Timelapse, an international exhibition at Borobudur, Indonesia. Now, after retiring from his work as director and media lecturer, Tom has come full circle, returning to the medium where it all began: painting.
